Case Study: TCC Lobby 2025 — Security for MPs & Constituents
Cronos Protection · 16 July 2025

On Wednesday 9 July 2025, thousands of people travelled to Westminster from every corner of the UK to meet their MPs face to face. The occasion was "Act Now, Change Forever", a mass lobby of Parliament organised by The Climate Coalition (TCC). Across three venues around the Houses of Parliament, including Methodist Central Hall and the QE2 Centre, constituents met their MPs and heard them speak about the climate and what government is doing about it.
Cronos Protection was asked to keep the day safe, secure and welcoming for everyone involved: MPs, constituents, speakers, volunteers and the organising team.
About The Climate Coalition
The Climate Coalition brings together a wide range of organisations under one banner. Its members include environmental and development charities, health and community groups, faith groups and campaigners. Together they speak up for action on climate change and nature loss, and its mass lobby days give ordinary people a direct way to raise those concerns with the MPs who represent them.
For the 2025 lobby, people were invited to ask their MPs to:
deliver funding for the communities hardest hit by climate change, in the UK and abroad
cut bills, back UK jobs and secure a greener, fairer future for all
restore nature for a safer, healthier future
The format puts constituents and MPs in the same room. For many people it was their first visit to Westminster, and for some the first time they had met their MP in person. That made the atmosphere friendly, hopeful and busy, and it shaped how we planned our security.
The Brief
A mass lobby is not like a typical event. Thousands of members of the public arrive across the morning. MPs come and go between the chamber, their offices and the venues on tight, changing schedules. Everything takes place within a few streets of Parliament, one of the most security-conscious areas in the country. Our brief was to:
protect MPs as they moved between Parliament and the three venues
make sure everyone entering the venues was searched, without creating long delays
keep queues outside the venues safe, orderly and off the road
look after the wellbeing of guests, some of whom would find the day overwhelming
link all three venues into one coordinated operation with the organisers
Close Protection for MPs
Our Close Protection Operatives escorted MPs on their movements between Parliament and the three venues. They planned routes, timings and meeting points in advance, so MPs could focus on their constituents rather than on getting from one building to the next. Working discreetly and professionally, the close protection teams kept MPs safe in busy public streets while keeping the day's demanding schedule on track.
Entry Search at Every Venue
SIA Door Supervisors searched every guest as they entered each venue. Searches were thorough but friendly. Our teams explained what was happening, kept the lines moving, and treated every guest with courtesy, many of them arriving after long journeys from across the country. Because the search operation ran smoothly, guests got into the venues quickly and calmly, and meetings with MPs could start on time.
Managing the Queues
Outside the venues, our stewards managed the queues, keeping pavements clear for passers-by and keeping guests safely away from the road. They answered questions, gave directions and kept people informed about waiting times and where to go next. On a day when thousands of people were arriving in central London, good queue management was essential for safety and for first impressions.
Safe Hubs and Safeguarding
Lobby days bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. Large crowds, unfamiliar surroundings and the emotion of meeting an MP about something people care deeply about can all take their toll. Our safeguarding staff ran safe hubs at the venues: quiet spaces where anyone who felt anxious, unwell or overwhelmed could take a break, with trained staff on hand to help. It reflects how we approach every event: security should make people feel safer, not more stressed.
Three Venues, One Operation
Coordination was the key to the day. We supplied the radios and ran a control function that linked all three venues and every close protection team. We worked to the organiser's communications flow and contingency plan, so everyone shared one picture of what was happening, from queue lengths at each door to the movements of individual MPs. If something changed, it was passed on immediately and the team adapted. That meant MPs arrived where they needed to be, venues stayed within safe numbers, and the organising team always knew what was going on.
Why It Matters
Events like the TCC Lobby depend on trust. MPs need to feel safe meeting large numbers of the public. Constituents need to feel welcome rather than processed. Organisers need confidence that the operation will run smoothly so they can focus on their message. By combining close protection, search, stewarding and safeguarding under one coordinated team, we helped the day run safely and calmly for everyone involved.
